Granville Health System Captain - EMS in Oxford, North Carolina

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possess high school diploma or GED. Graduation from an accredited EMT-P program. Current #NC EMT-P certification.# Attend, at a minimum, 24 hours of continuing education annually. Must have 2 years experience as a Paramedic and 1 year with Granville EMS and be currently serving as a Senior Paramedic or Lieutenant. Employee must possess an maintain a valid driver#s license. Must pass physical agility test biannually. ACCOUNTABLE TO: EMS Director / Logistics Officer POSITION SUMMARY: Administrative and skilled work in the supervision of an assigned shift of Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics, which may include rescuing the sick or injured and providing emergency care and transportation. Considerable tact, courtesy, and firmness are required in frequent contact with the general public. Work is performed under the general supervision of the EMS Director#/ Logistics Officer and is evaluated by observation and by the effectiveness of the operation. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The amount of physical effort remains fluid throughout the shift, but many excursions is consistent. The fixed demands of the job are lifting, securing, and transporting patients from the scene to the hospital. To accomplish this task, an employee is required to twist, bend, walk, run, kneel, and lift. These functions are often accomplished in adverse weather conditions. In addition, this individual must often deal with obese and/or uncooperative patients and their actions. The duration and weight is dependent on the situation, but employees should be able to lift 150 lbs and withstand duration of events often lasting greater than one hour per call.
