Be knowledgeable of Food Safety / SQF regulations and ensure compliance. Be familiar with GMP's as they relate to vegetable processing. Be familiar with HACCP Systems as they relate to food safety. Ensure completion of master sanitation and housekeeping schedules. Train and lead the sanitation team in safe working practices including chemical handling, PPE, and OSHA requirements. Understand the manufacturing process and equipment/parts design to ensure proper equipment sanitation for efficient startups. Complete comprehensive evaluation of sanitation processes and practices and provide feedback for improvements or modifications. Create and distribute work schedules to sanitation team and ensure they follow their daily orders properly. Coordinate and verify cleaning responsibilities and ensure that any improper processes are stopped and reviewed. With titration testing, monitor the mixing and use of chemicals to ensure appropriate and acceptable concentrations to prevent misuse and hazards to personnel and property. Initiate or lead corrective action related to sanitation issues. Follow up and ensure completion. Maintain accurate records required for all phases of sanitation. Assist periodically with daily inspections to evaluate the cleanliness and physical condition of equipment and facility. Make recommendations for painting, repairs, replacement of tools and equipment, etc. Ensure all chemicals are returned to the chemical room at the end of sanitation and that the chemical room is locked prior to leaving for the day and/or prior to startup of production. What You'll Bring: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two to three years related experience and/or training. Bilingual in English and Spanish a preferred, but not required. Must work well in a team environment and have strong communication skills. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to use basic mathematical skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing. Ability or compute percentages. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
