Summary:

The Sr. HR Generalist aligns business objectives with employees and management and serves as a consultant to the local management teams on Human Resource related issues. The successful Sr. HR Generalist will act as an employee champion and change agent, assess and anticipate HR-related needs, communicate needs, proactively seek to develop integrated solutions and work in collaboration with Corporate HR Director. The Sr. HR Generalist formulates partnerships across the HR functions to deliver value added service to local management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. Additional responsibilities will include onboarding and offboarding employees, managing HR data entry, assisting with organization development initiatives and supporting our diversity, belonging, inclusion and equity (DBIE) initiatives.

Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Consult with line management providing HR guidance when appropriate.

  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.

  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues. Provide coaching and insights to leaders and employees to find effective solutions.

  • Assist with the development and delivery of inclusion-related content and programming for all company stakeholders.

  • Maintain general knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees.

  • Provide counsel on employment law issues at the local facilities in collaboration with legal.

  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase engagement, productivity and retention.

  • Develop offer terms for new hires, promotions, transfers and provides support to Payroll for processing such transactions in our HRIS.

  • Provides support for local restructures, workforce planning, succession planning, and training and development initiatives.

  • Partner with the HR Director to recommend corrective actions and improvements. Address employee relations issues and complaints. Manage unemployment claim administration and attend hearings if necessary.

  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex matters to management. Ensure compliance with federal and local employment laws and recommend best practices.

  • Partner with the HR Director to review, update, and communicate HR policies, procedures, laws, and standards. Serve as a subject matter expert for internal HR policy interpretation.

  • Ensure compliance with EEO/AAP and OSHA regulations. Maintain employee files, review and update job descriptions, manage affirmative action programs, and file required reports.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or other related field.

  • PHR or SHRM CP certification preferred.

  • 5-7 years of progressive Human Resources experience.

  • Strong understanding of HRIS and ability to maximize HR systems for data needs.

  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, talent development, benefits, performance management, succession planning, employee relations and federal and state respective employment laws.
