Responsibilities

Rotary Transfer Machinist / Setup Operator

The Rotary Transfer Machinist / Setup Operator is responsible for setting up and operating machine tools to produce precision parts out of brass. This includes reading blueprints or job orders to determine product specifications, setting cutting speeds and feed rates, and adjusting tools for optimal performance. The machinist monitors machine operations, inspects the first run and sample pieces, and ensures parts meet specifications. Responsibilities also include replacing worn tools, sharpening tools using a bench grinder, and providing on-the-job training for other operators.

Skills & Abilities:

• Proficiency in operating Govro-Nelson machines and other tools like lathes, milling machines, and grinders.

• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and technical blueprints.

• Math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

• Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of metalworking processes.

• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of machine setup experience preferred.

• Ability to wear protective equipment and stand for extended periods.

• Physical capability to lift 50 lbs and move throughout the facility.
