Employee Health & Benefits Practice Leader is responsible for creating and communicating the vision and strategy for the Overland Park benefits team. This individual is tasked with driving growth for colleagues and clients, ensuring the achievement of both through visionary leadership, talent development, talent acquisition and harmonization of sales and operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for annual department budget and business plan.
  • Works collaboratively with Leadership Team to drive the mission of the agency.
  • Promotes interdepartmental resource sharing and cross-sell initiatives.
  • Participates in Regional and National team to:
  • Evaluate initiatives and opportunities for innovative solutions.
  • Provide feedback on trends and challenges in EH&B.
  • Communicate partnerships, strategies and opportunities to local office teams.
  • Communicates emerging industry trends, issues, and market intelligence to producers, clients, team members and leadership.
  • Works with producers and service to develop and implement strategies to achieve profitability objectives by maintaining operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Coaches colleagues and challenges growth for department and individuals success.
  • Establish annual goals for team members and participate in ongoing, regular feedback and annual reviews.
  • Assist in recruiting, developing and retaining talent.
  • Work with internal and external resources to support new producer development and growth while incorporating and understanding our sales methodology. Including;
  • Working with Training & Development team to build and refine curriculum
  • Actively engaging in opportunities alongside producers in the field, helping to originate new business and retention of existing clients by developing firm understanding of objectives and processes and the deployment of tools and resources to support the client
  • Oversee carrier partnerships including relationships and contracts.
  • Manage overall client relationships in assigned book of business and key client relationships.
  • Actively participate and contribute as part of MMA\'s local office leadership team, providing input and recommendations on relevant issues and trends, and provide updates on regular basis on key issues and developments
  • Work in conjunction with Sales Leadership to identify marketing and sales opportunities that align with both the producers and MMA\'s objectives to drive pipeline and sales efforts.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks to drive growth.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Bachelor\'s degree in business, human resources, healthcare or other related area preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years experience in the healthcare benefits industry working for a group, insurance carrier, broker or general agency. Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Must have knowledge of group insurance (medical, denta , vision, life and disability products).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to work well with people, in a team environment, and to establish relationships at all levels.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and multi-task.
