The Opportunity

Black & Veatch is seeking a qualified IT Procurement Manager to join our IT Vendor Management Office . The ideal candidate will be experienced in overall IT contract reviews, negotiations and vendor management processes. As the IT Procurement Manager , you will have the opportunity toreview new and existing contracts, establish standard contract language, negotiate vendors and dispute resolution. This position will work as part of the overall Vendor Management Office butwill be required to work independently and negotiate directly with vendors. The ability to interpret contractual language, perform risk mitigation and communicate with internal project and operational support teams are key attributes.

The Team

As part of BV Business Enablement , you will be part of the critical and forward-thinking group that enables our people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible by providing creative solutions. Functions in this group include CIO/Global Information Technology, Diode, ESH&S, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviews all contracts, agreements and statements of work associated with IT operational support, as well as project related activity, to mitigate overall risk and ambiguity

  • Ensures all agreements are reviewed and approved by the internal legal department

  • Reviews contractual obligations with internal teams and vendor to ensure responsibilities are known, documented and agreed to by both parties

  • Work with internal teams to understand overall requirements and assumptions related to new engagements to ensure the contractual obligations align

  • Leads the change request and/or escalation process related to contractual ambiguity or disputes

  • Develops standard contractual language required based on contract type and complexity

  • Ensures that agreements include appropriate warranty periods and performance guarantees

  • Ensures that SLAs are well documented and can be accurately tracked

  • Documents and files agreements accordingly and provides contract term summaries to the parties involved to ensure a general understanding of scope, risks, termination clauses and performance guarantees.

  • Lead RFP engagements, gather project requirements, evaluate potential bidders, and create the RFP package for submission

  • Assists in the RFP process by reviewing vendor submittals and taking proactive steps in the negotiation process to mitigate risk and guarantee performance by the vendors.

  • Acts as the point of escalation for contractual escalations and disputes

  • Research contractual terms and provides interpretation of contractual language supporting the dispute

  • Works directly with vendor to resolve dispute and escalate to internal management as needed

  • Maintains database of contract term dates, renewal clauses, termination details and non-disclosure agreement dates.

  • Develop timelines for contractual reviews based on complexity and provide overall status of contract reviews and escalations on a bi-weekly basis

  • Leverage interpersonal relationship strengths to manage disputes and drive change in vendor behaviors, and create a working environment where vendors receive incentives to change behaviors and meet performance goals

  • Maintains database of issues and escalations, open / close dates, status and resolution details

  • Strong ability to communicate with IT users, legal and procurement staff, and business leaders to craft contracts that align complex needs with contractual requirements to achieve business outcomes

  • Create a customer-focused, service-based approach to working with stakeholders and vendors that emphasizes the creation and cultivation of cross-organizational relationships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher education preferred (university/college degree)

  • Contract Management Training and Certification (CMBOK) a plus

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience in IT Procurement or related field

  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Work involves sitting most of the time, working with computer, keyboard, mouse and headset. All positions require the ability to exert up to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push or pull objects.Normal office environment.
