Team & Job Overview
The Partnerships team is accountable for enterprise and regional level relationship management driving results through a win-win-win approach with domestic & foreign banks, credit unions, private-equity firms, alternative lenders and other Private, Crown and Association organizations. The team develops and executes enterprise-level strategies, and channel tactics to maximize the business potential in support to Canadian Exporters. This is achieved by developing trusted partnerships and established network with key internal and external stakeholders optimizing partner priorities and potential with the goal of diversifying EDC’s solution suite within the market.
Discipline Summary
Creates business development opportunities in Canada with partners for small, mid-market and large enterprise business segments across a spectrum of industry sectors
Gathers and shares market intelligence across various sectors through external interactions with Partners and sector associations in support to the Partnership Strategy
Supports with the implementation of strategic initiatives and influences the development of new opportunities and new services/products customized to clients’ needs
Leverages existing network, builds and maintains effective long-term relationships with portfolio of partners (i.e. Financial Institutions, Crown corporations, Pension Funds, Private & associations)
Key Responsibilities
The team is seeking two Partnership Senior Associates: one permanent and one for a 12-month contract.
Support EDC’s partnerships portfolio by conducting research, including understanding of market needs, market intelligence and identification of new business opportunities in the financial ecosystem.
Contribute to building business development plan to identify, filter and match partner needs with products/offerings to maximize value creation through the client growth cycle
Lead and facilitate exchange of ideas and task collaboration in fluid small sized project teams
Collaborate internally and work as the partner champion in cross-functional teams to build strong customer relationships and drive the voice of the partner
Develop material and presentation to effectively communicate partnership strategy aligned with EDC’s corporate Strategy. Prepare detailed business reports and presentations for the management team.
Monitor and track the EDC’s partnerships portfolio performance against business targets and provide insights to the team and management to support business decision-making.
Work closely with relationship leads to facilitate multi-faceted business engagements at the enterprise level.
Help the execution of cross-organization initiatives utilizing a project management mindset and by collaborating with EDC stakeholders to expand partnership new business opportunities.
Communicate with Partners on business related updates such as reporting, program & product changes and monitoring, newsletter, etc.
Consolidate and synthesize information to help drive business development strategies and achieve business objectives.
Screening Criteria
Completed an Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration or Finance or in a related field
Minimum 2-5 years of business development experience in international business and/or financial services, or related experience for level 16. Minimum 5 years for level 17.
Strong sense of information synthetization, communication (verbal and written) and analytical skills
Project management experience and collaboration experience with internal/external stakeholders
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret financial data
Assets
Experience in the Canadian commercial banking sector and/or investment sector
Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
Knowledge of the Canadian Banking ecosystem
Demonstration of strong BD mindset and business acumen
Strong understanding of EDC’s business (e.g. LOBs and segments)
Compensation Details:
Business Development 16: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $72,840 - $ 97,121, plus a performance-based incentive.
- Business Development 17: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $83,037 - $ 110,717, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
This role may be performed from EDC’s head office in Ottawa or from our Community Hubs in Toronto or Montreal
