Team & Job Overview

The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:

  • Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.

  • Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.

  • Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.

  • Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.

EDC as a corporation is very technology driven with a lot of solutions provided by Microsoft and some other core OEMs. EDC has a requirement for a resource to work with both the Accenture (EDC’s Managed Service Partner) team, as well as internal EDC teams, to support both the run, grow and transformative activities outlined in our current roadmap. We architect, design, build, test and deploy agile and cost-effective Workplace and Service Management solutions leveraging Cloud and as-a-Service based approaches. We implement scalable, high-performance solutions that meet the need of today’s corporate and digital applications using cloud infrastructure technologies and software defined infrastructure. We develop and deliver legacy infrastructure transformation (including operating model) and migration to drive next-generation business outcomes

The Microsoft Solutions Architect reports to the Chapter Lead, Infrastructure Architecture & Engineering and supports the Director, Workplace Solutions and ITSM.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the provision of expertise for complex elevated technical support issues including solution lifecycle management.

  • Ensure system security, performance and availability.

  • Help remove roadblocks for project initiatives providing support in planning, implementation, and post-implementation phases.

  • Work with staff and other groups to provide consistency of risk mitigation and management during project lifecycle/activities.

  • Assist the project team(s) in the clarification of requirements, and in the review of design proposals, from vendor partners.

  • Attend project/team meetings and briefings to collect info and provide input.

  • Share knowledge with other EDC stakeholders and EDC vendor partners.

  • Provide guidance to other members of the team and service owners.

  • Work with technical product owners, vendor development and operations support partners, IT operations and support, and others to design and implement short- and long-term solutions to workplace needs.

  • Conduct a wide range of quality control tests and analyses to ensure that systems meet or exceed specified standards and end-user requirements.

  • Suggest and create workplace possible solutions

  • Conceptualize and be the technical guide during the discovery process

  • Responsible for creating technical specifications out of user requirements

  • Conceptualize the design and be part of the implementation phase.

  • Create and maintain technical processes and procedures.

  • Continue self-education on new and emerging technologies and practices and how to apply them at EDC.

Screening Criteria

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related program

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience working as a subject matter expert in at least two of the following:

  • Endpoint Management (Endpoint Solutions manager), Endpoint vulnerability management, Defender for endpoints

  • Microsoft 365 (Office Apps, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Teams, PowerApps)

  • Azure Virtual Desktop

  • Windows Desktop Operating Systems

  • Mobile Device Management

  • Power Platform

  • Telephony (Teams)

  • Copilot for M365 – (AI enthusiast)

  • Application deployment and lifecycle management

  • Exchange (Hybrid)

  • SCCM, Intune, Genesys (virtual pbx), Virtual Fax, Mobile Device Management

  • Enterprise Printing - Uniflow

  • Meeting room (Telepresence, conferencing, etc.) & collaboration technology

  • Application deployment and lifecycle management

  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to create and maintain technical processes and procedures

  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, including technical problem solving

  • Exhibits leadership skills

  • Ability to work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations

  • Ability to interpret internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services

Compensation Details:

  • Architecture Owner 18: Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location

  • Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.

  • This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, or from the Community Hub in Toronto, Mississauga, Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax, Montreal, Laval or Brossard.
