Summary

This job is responsible for the operation of the formed product line. The Formline Operator’s primary responsibility is to produce budgeted volumes while maintaining optimum product quality with regard to product attributes and additives.

The individual in this job will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the formline area along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. In addition, the Formline Operator is responsible for all equipment on the formed product line (with the exception of formline peeler) from the blancher through the fryer, up to and including the oil system. The Formline Operator is responsible for adding and mixing additives, performing free fatty acid tests, maintaining and recording temperatures of all equipment in this work area, insuring correct oil type is used for the product being produced, entering and changing data in the computer system, and sanitizing the work area. It is imperative that the Formline Operator conducts oneself in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness to one’s surroundings and the safe operation of the equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of moving equipment and other potential safety hazards in a production plant.

Ensures necessary level of communication is maintained with the appropriate personnel.

Typical Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Relevant Experience

Combination of experience and education will be considered.

• Must have an acceptable safety record.

• Must have an acceptable attendance record.

• Must have basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication division and percent) to make proper adjustments and calibrations as required.

• Must be able to read and understand operations manuals and make entries in daily logs, computers, and check sheets.

• Ensures the ability to demonstrate an understanding of the processing concepts of cutting, blanching, and drying, conditioning, final cutting, ingredient addition, forming, frying, and freezing units of operation.

• Ensures the ability to demonstrate an understanding of the Statistical Process Control (SPC) program which includes upstream grading, zone control, and troubleshooting as well as an ability to follow all program guidelines and procedures.

• Ensures the ability to monitor equipment and process control readings, record data in reports both manually and electronically, and make process decisions based on process data collected from equipment in the form line area.

• Ensures the ability to perform all assigned process checks and tests and records collected data in reports both manually and electronically; in addition, ensure that target values are met, and process changes are made according to zone control and process data.
