This Engineering role can be filled at the Entry, Mid-level or Senior Engineer level. Please see minimum qualifications list below for each level
Expected salary range:
Entry Level - $82,500
Mid-Level - $88,000 - $108,000
Sr Level - $115,000- $141,000
Ranges are per year based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401K.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Performs advanced technical/engineering problem solving in support of nuclear plant operations. Responsible for technical decisions. Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations.
Responsible for performing engineering and technical tasks, under direct supervision, in support of nuclear plant operations. Specific areas of responsibilities are managing the following programs: Fire Protection and diverse and flexible coping strategies (FLEX). The use of procedures, drawings, schematics, and general engineering practices is required to perform this role.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement engineering analysis, activities and programs. (25%)
Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve equipment and system problems. (15%)
Perform engineering tasks as assigned by supervision applying engineering principles. (15%)
Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work ensuring proper configuration management and assuring that standard design criteria, practices, procedures and codes are used in preparation of plans and specifications. (15%)
Provide complete task management of engineering issues. (10%)
Perform independent research, reviews, studies and analyses in support of technical projects and programs. (10%)
Recommend equipment, new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, correct design or material flaws, or comply with changes in codes or regulations. (10%)
JOB SCOPE
Programs Engineering: Monitor, enhance, and implement technical programs. Identify, schedule and oversee code and regulatory inspections per technical program requirements. Support field execution of programmatic inspections. Prepare required analysis and program documents to support inspection scopes.
The Fire Protection Engineer position is the owner of the Fire Protection program and diverse and flexible coping strategies (FLEX). This engineer is accountable for acting as the station authority for all site-specific fire protection program issues and as technical consultant to other departments on design and programmatic issues concerning Fire Protection. Responsibilities include administrative documentation as well as maintaining/performing engineering evaluations, calculations, and design change reviews required by the program. Additional requirements include ensuring the technical content of the Fire Protection report, site-specific post fire safe shutdown analysis and procedures, and the fire protection Technical Requirements Manual (TRM), or equivalent document, is adequate. This position will be expected to respond to adverse trends or conditions regarding fire protection equipment, as well as interfacing with NEIL and NRC inspectors during station inspections.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Entry Level E01 Engineer – New Graduate
- B.S in Engineering
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Mid-level E02 Engineer
- B.S. in Engineering, a minimum 2 years Nuclear experience or related engineering experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Senior E03 Engineer
- B.S. in Engineering, a minimum 5 years Nuclear experience or related engineering experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Engineer in training certification
Background or knowledge in Fire Protection
Knowledge of NFPA regulations
Professional Engineer Registration
Advanced technical degree or related coursework
Commercial or Navy Nuclear Power Plant Experience
