Who We Are

Citi as a franchise has a robust history in the Nordic region, spanning over 100 years. We have recently bolstered our existing offering by bringing comprehensive banking solutions to mid-sized, globally minded corporates with the introduction of Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) in 2020. Citi has a presence in Norway since 1973 and our newly upgraded office in Oslo is centrally located on Tjuvholmen.

Key Outline

To drive its global expansion strategy, Citi Commercial Bank is deepening its presence in Norway to support internationally oriented mid-market companies. CCB’s growth plans are aligned to industries which are strategically important in the market, with a focus on the Industrials, Healthcare, Consumer and Business & Professional services sectors.

We are now looking to hire a VP level relationship manager for Norway, preferably with experience in one of these focus sectors. Special attention will be given to fast growth disruptors that aim to scale-up their cross-border operations. Our new banker will have an opportunity to expand the CCB franchise in Norway, leveraging industry expertise and an advisory-led approach to help mid-market companies prosper and grow internationally.

This position requires a relationship manager with approximately 10+ years of experience, capable of driving business independently. The successful candidate should have a proven track record in acquiring new clients, originating new business, client coverage skills to deepen relationships, with ability to call at the CFO/Treasurer level or above.

Main Responsibilities

  • Acquire new client relationships for CCB in Norway and manage those relationships on an ongoing basis. Own, respond to, uncover and anticipate future needs, roadblocks, risks and expectations. The relationship manager will also take over some existing Citi clients in the country, where the scope will be to significantly grow the Citi wallet share.

  • Strategically engage with client’s C-suite and maximise ‘One Citi’ client experience, by proactively leveraging and sharing Citi’s market leading insights, global network and solutions.

  • Collaborate and work closely with various product teams (treasury solution sales, trade finance, markets, corporate finance, capital markets, investment banking), Risk teams, as well as the broader CCB global network. Collaborate with all Nordic teams to develop opportunities;

  • Participate in structuring solutions specific to client / industry segment while maintaining overall accountability for clients / transactions and building / strengthening an effective portfolio;

  • Administrate the credit relationship of clients, coordinate and supervise the entire process, ensuring the proper application of policies and institutional processes;

  • Maximize client experience by proactively sharing markets updates, trends and intelligence;

  • Monitor and support products’ implementation processes. Manage customers and transactions in the CRM platform;

  • Verify adherence to global KYC (Know Your Customer) standards during the onboarding process and, on an ongoing basis, ensuring the appropriate compliance deliverables are met;

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Citi's policies / guidelines at all time;

  • Develop and build strong relationships & engagement with key business introducers - debt advisory, corporate finance, legal, audit, industry associations and other key industry influencers. Build advocacy and gain market insight. Visible advocate of the CCB Norway franchise in the external market.

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Sound knowledge of banking, treasury / lending / markets products and processes, as well as a solid track record of providing effective and thought out banking and financial advice and solutions to clients;

  • Demonstrate a good level of Early Warning Detection skills. Ability to follow through on risks / issues and track them to closure;

  • Demonstrate a good level of credit skills; capable of structuring credit deals and guiding staff through the credit deal approval process;

  • Highly focused, able to rapidly identify key priorities and clearly communicate them to multiple stakeholders;

  • Accountable for significant direct business results and provide advice regarding the operations and growth of the business;

  • Understanding of regulations, market practices and bank operations in Norway

Skills and Education:

  • Motivation to learn

  • Independent and well organized while having the ability to work effectively in team settings across multiple project timelines and prioritizations;

  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask while making sound decisions;

  • Strong focus on delivery, ability to turn concepts into actionable solutions;

  • Fluency in English and Norwegian (written and spoken). Other Nordic Languages – Advantageous.

  • Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria will be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience
