Description
The Systems Administrator assists with the day-to-day operations of the IT Department. They carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: IT system and network maintenance, programming, computer installation and configuration, help desk support, and development of IT components.
Essential Duties and Desired Outcomes
Provide support to users relating to both hardware and software problems on their personal computers to maintain daily operations.
Assemble, install and configure computer equipment or units of local area networks requiring use of standard interface protocols to enable electronic communication.
Participate in the IT Department’s operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including telecommunications, servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals and office automation equipment
Benchmark, analyze, report on and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
Identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
Evaluate and determine business and systems requirements for projects and new technology implementations.
Maintain up-to-date technology expertise in various areas to include, but not limited to operations and applications of microcomputer software and a variety of commonly used hardware and software.
Assist the Director in managing the financial aspects of the IT department, including purchasing, budgeting and budget review.
Assist the Director in developing and implementing all IT policies and procedures, including those for security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing and service provision.
Participate in developing requests for proposal.
Assist the Director in developing and evaluating business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending initiatives.
Participate in negotiating and administering vendor, outsourcer and consultant contracts and service agreements.
Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.
Develop and implement methods, processes, and user training support of LEAN projects and other process improvement activities organization wide.
Maintain system documentation, policies, procedures and maintenance manuals related to implementation of projects and success measurements.
