What you will do

1. Strategic Planning and Architecture Design

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap for operational technology, aligning with the company’s strategic goals.

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency and service reliability.

  • Ensure alignment between IT (information technology) and operational technology (OT) strategies to support business objectives.

2. Technology Integration and Innovation

  • Evaluate and recommend advanced technologies and frameworks that drive innovation in utilities operations.

  • Lead the integration of new technologies such as SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management Systems), IoT (Internet of Things), AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure), and smart grid solutions to optimize utility operations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of new systems and technologies.

3. Governance and Compliance

  • Establish and enforce architectural standards, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across all technology initiatives.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards, particularly in cybersecurity and data privacy.

  • Develop risk management strategies to mitigate potential threats and vulnerabilities within the OT environment.

4. Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication

  • Engage with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, IT, OT, and business units, to gather requirements and align technology initiatives with business needs.

  • Communicate architectural vision, strategy, and progress to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to IT and OT teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

5. Performance Monitoring and Optimization

  • Implement monitoring and analytics tools to track the performance and health of OT systems.

  • Continuously assess and optimize the architecture to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.

  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex technical issues within the OT environment.

Experience and Skills

  • A bachelor or master degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proven 10-18+ years of experience as an Enterprise Architect, mandatory experience working with utilities on operational systems in Japan.

  • In-depth knowledge of OT systems, including SCADA, ADMS, AMI, smart grids, and IoT.

  • Deep process and operational understanding, being able to lead process transformation from Japan utility specific processes to global standard

  • Strong understanding of IT/OT convergence, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements in the utilities industry.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a strategic mindset.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF (The Open Group Architectural Framework), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), PMP (Project Management Professional)) are a plus.

  • Be able to converse in Japanese and English.

Responsibilities

Analyzes business needs to ensure Oracle solution meets customer objectives. Exercises creativity and independent judgment and business acumen in selecting methods and techniques to design non-routine and very complex business solutions utilizing Oracle products and technology to meet customer needs. As a position of technical and professional influence, this individual frequently operates at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies enhancements to Oracle products to meet complex customer needs. As a thought leader and customer advisor, influences customer leadership in acceptance of Oracle solutions and services to facilitate the closing of consulting deals. Contributes to non-routine and very complex statements of work, work breakdown structure and/or level of effort and staff plans. Presents and demonstrates solutions to customers. Builds and maintains a network and up-to-date specific industry or product knowledge. Responsible for transitioning deal knowledge to implementation team. Coordinates a pursuit team of subject matter experts. Leads the domain specific solution design aspects of engagement(s) ensuring high quality and integrated business solutions. Knowledgeable of competition and external factors that may influence Oracle's competitive position. Resolves highly complex customer issues by recommending solutions. Ensures enterprise solution spans across the customer's business processes. Designs innovative solutions that maximize the use of standard product capabilities to meet customer objectives.
