MCRHC is a 25-bed critical access hospital, including a Level 4 Trauma Center Emergency Room seeing 3,200 visits annually. About The Job:

The Certified Nurse Aide performs routine and general nurse aide functions on the medical surgical patient care unit.

CNAs may be cross trained to perform certain duties for the respiratory therapy department under the supervision of a respiratory therapist.

Position Details:

  • 0.9 FTE

  • Nights-7P-7A

  • Shifts : Sunday-Saturday, days, evenings, nights, primarily nights; The determination of the daily and weekly work schedules shall be made by the PHO.

Salary: Starts at $16.49 increases with experience. Shift differential pay as well.

What You Will Do:

  • Assists patients in their personal hygiene needs.

  • Performs routine skills or treatments in a manner that provides for patient comfort and protects patient dignity. Assists in care of the environment and equipment to ensure patient and staff safety.

  • Prepares patient units for and assists nursing staff with admissions, patient transfers and discharges in a prompt and courteous manner.

  • Assists in maintaining the nutritional needs of the patient.

  • Provides competent patient care according to the above-indicated patient populations.

  • Records and communicates patient information in an accurate, timely manner to the responsible RN.

  • Demonstrates communication skills and promotes good working relationships with others in a collegial manner.

  • Demonstrates Guiding Behavior Expectations in all interactions with all parties.

  • Supports and abides by all PHO, departmental and safety policies and procedures.

  • Acts in a professional manner reflecting the mission, philosophy and values of Mitchell County Regional Health Center and Mercy Health Network.

  • Performs other responsibilities as requested by the Director of Acute Care Services, Charge Nurse, assigned RN, and/or Administrative Team.

  • Position may float to the Emergency Department with experience, as directed by the Director of Acute Care.

  • Documents patient information in the electronic/paper record in an accurate, timely manner.

  • Maintains active log-ons/passwords for computer software systems that support patient care and education.

  • Assists nursing staff with processing provider's orders, updating census sheet, helping copy paperwork for patient transfers, retrieving old medical records, and other responsibilities as requested by the Supervisor, Charge Nurse, assigned RN, and/or Administrative Team.

  • What We Need From You:

  • Ability to perform detailed assignments, follow direction, understand work has interruptions, and relates to patients, hospital staff, and visitors.

  • Ability to recognize personal training needs and follow through to gain new competencies.

  • Ability to perform CPR.

  • Must have basic computer skills.

  • Regular & reliable attendance is expected.

  • Adapts positively to the ever-changing health care environment by supporting technology and process changes.

    Position Qualifications

    Education:

  • High school graduate or GED, preferred

  • Completion of Certified Nurse Aide course. Must be active on the Iowa Direct Care Worker Registry.

  • BLS/CPR for Health Care Provider Certification.

    Experience:

  • Previous hospital nurse aide experience preferred.
