The Toro Company Training Manager - Ventrac in Orrville, Ohio

As a Training Manager you will support and coordinate training programs to Ventrac dealers, training both in-house and at dealer locations across the world. This role will ensure training and development programs are implemented in accordance with our organization’s business strategy. The Training Manager will monitor training progress, assist associates within the department, and report metrics to leadership.

What Will You Do?  

  • Manage field trainers and work closely with Territory Sales Managers on prioritization of field trainers time

  • Plan, organize, and lead Ventrac Sales & Service School training events at both the dealer sites and in-house training schools

  • Collaborate with Service Manager and Service Trainer to establish objectives of each event and metrics

  • Coordinate organize Dealer training at New Dealers, large dealer technician school, regional schools, and customer schools etc.

  • Establish, organize and administer measurables for each event

  • Help lead national and regional events as applicable

  • Develop agendas, secure speakers, reserve facilities, oversee all aspects of the event including booking hotel, food

  • Organize other sales /service events as needed (Example: planning and coordinating a Demo Blitz with Dealers sales team)

  • Develop and produce all training curriculum materials in conjunction with different departments on three levels: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced

  • Accurately administers the department budget to include preparing purchase requisitions, reviewing the monthly budget reports for accurate posting to each account and vouchering to correct errors

  • Manage fleet of Ventrac Attachments & Tractors for use in training events

  • Reviews quarterly budget variances, identifies reasons for variances, discusses with Director and prepares the Quarterly Budget Variance report for the Director’s approval

  • Supervise all functions being held at the Bridgeway Training Center (BTC) including:

  • Scheduling of events

  • Making cleaning arrangement after the event

  • Communicating any repairs that need to be made

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management

  • Travel time is expected to be up to 25%

What Do You Need?

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, Sales/Marketing or Communication, preferred.

  • 2+ years’ experience in planning and facilitating training events, or equivalent experience.

  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Confidence with large groups to facilitate meetings, events and trainings.

  • Proven experience maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when handling stressful situations, including diffusing situations with unhappy customers.

  • Experience coordinating multiple projects/assignments simultaneously.

  • Proven to have a strong attention to detail with excellent organization skills.

  • Demonstrated experience working independently under limited supervision.

  • Proven ability to identify and resolve problems where independent decision-making and initiative were demonstrated.

  • Demonstrated experience handling confidential information and correspondence and a familiarity with methods and approaches to maintaining confidentiality.

  • Must have or be able to gain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate and be insured to drive VPI vehicles.

Other Job-Related Components:

  • Manufacturing plant conditions (indoors, with variable temperature, humidity, noise, and dirt). 

  • Physical hazards such as powered vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, moving machinery, compressed air power supplies, and materials handling. 

  • Working with hazardous materials, including solvents, oils, grease, paint, and fuels. 

  • A variable work schedule (ranging from 8-10 hours daily).
