Sargent is searching for a Welder in our shop in Stillwater, Maine. Weld & fabricate metal components necessary to repair heavy equipment. Knowledge of equipment repair & welding.

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Construction Experience: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)

Willingness to travel:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Select equipment and plan layout, assembly and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage and welding techniques.

  • Lay out, position, align, and fit components together.

  • Bolt, clamp and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding.

  • Set up equipment and weld parts, using S.M.A.W., G.T.A.W., G.M.A.W. or other procedures and equipment.

  • May assemble parts by bolting and riveting.

  • May weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions.

  • May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools.

  • Maintain work area clean and free of rubble.

  • Manage and utilize materials in an efficient manner.

  • Perform such other duties, including but not limited to laborer duties, as requested by supervisor.

    DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED.

  • Education and/or experience in Welding.

  • Experience in heavy equipment /truck repair preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record is required.

  • OSHA 30-hour training.

  • Good knowledge of and experience working with steel.

  • Layout, drilling and light welding previous experience preferred.

  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints & BOM’s.

  • Detail oriented, demonstrated high level of accuracy and to work safely.

  • Must pass required specialized training.
