University of Maine System Postdoctoral Research Associate in Orono, Maine
The Soil Functions and Trajectories (SOFT) Laboratory, based in the School of Food and Agriculture, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Soil Biogeochemistry. The successful candidate will conduct research in soil carbon and nitrogen cycling with a focus on understanding controls on the stabilization and destabilization of soil mineral-associated organic matter using stable isotopes techniques. Initial appointment is for one year with renewal for a second-year contingent upon performance. Typical hiring salary for this soft-money, fixed-length position is $55,948 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
Required:
PhD in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Agronomy, Ecology, or related field.
Prior experience in laboratory work related to soils
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Track record of peer-reviewed publications
Data analysis in R or Python
Preferred:
Prior experience in soil organic matter physical fractionation methods
Prior experience in use of stable isotopes (13C, 15N, or both) to answer research questions in soil biogeochemistry
Prior experience using trace gas analyzers
