Position: Athletic/Activities Director: 2025-2026 School Year
Location: Orofino
Position Overview:
The Athletic/Activities Director is responsible for the planning, management, and supervision of all
athletic and extracurricular activities for grades 712 in a rural high school setting. This includes
overseeing sports programs, student activities, and the community use of school facilities. The position
requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to create a positive and inclusive
environment that enhances student development and school pride.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in education, sports management, or a related field (Masters preferred).
Teaching license or administrative credential is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in education, coaching, or a related leadership role.
Familiarity with the needs of rural schools and communities is highly desirable.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple programs, events, and projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in budgeting, scheduling, and facility management.
Knowledge of safety standards and risk management for student activities and events.
Experience with event planning and logistics.
Physical and Availability Requirements:
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and non-traditional hours to attend events and meetings.
Capability to lift and move equipment and materials as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Administration:
1. Oversee all athletic programs and student activities, including academic competitions, performing
arts, and club events.
2. Develop, coordinate, and maintain a comprehensive schedule for practices, competitions,
performances, and other events.
3. Ensure that all programs comply with school, district, and state policies, including academic
eligibility requirements.
Leadership and Supervision:
4. Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate coaches, activity advisors, and program staff.
5. Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for all program leaders.
6. Foster a culture of teamwork, sportsmanship, and excellence among students and staff.
Student Support:
7. Encourage and support student participation in athletics and activities, ensuring inclusivity and
accessibility.
8. Collaborate with school counselors and teachers to monitor student eligibility and academic
performance.
9. Serve as a resource for students and families regarding program expectations and opportunities.
Community Engagement and Facility Management:
10. Act as the primary liaison between the school and community organizations for facility use,
ensuring proper scheduling and adherence to policies.
11. Oversee the maintenance, safety, and accessibility of all school facilities used for athletic and
activity programs.
12. Foster positive relationships with community organizations to enhance program support and
visibility.
Event Coordination:
13. Plan and oversee special events such as tournaments, competitions, performances, and other
school activities.
14. Ensure the smooth operation of all events, including managing logistics, staffing, and
communications.
15. Attend major events to provide on-site leadership and support.
Compliance and Reporting:
16. Maintain accurate records for all athletic and activity programs, including team rosters,
schedules, and outcomes.
17. Ensure compliance with local, state, and national regulations, including those of high school
athletic and activity associations.
18. Prepare regular reports on program success, financial performance, and facility usage.
Financial Management and Fundraising:
19. Develop and manage budgets for all athletic and activity programs.
20. Organize and oversee fundraising initiatives to support program needs, collaborating with
booster clubs and other stakeholders.
Collaboration and Communication:
21. Work closely with the high school principal to align athletic and activity programs with t
