Siemens Energy Whole Engine Modeling/ Secondary Air System Engineer (WEM/ SAS Engineer) in Orlando, Florida

A Snapshot of Your Day

As Whole Engine Modeling/ Secondary Air System Engineer you will work in an international team of engineers on development projects for new products, service upgrades and in the support of service topics. You will typically work together with project managers, component engineers and colleagues from production and service.

You will have the opportunity to work independently and in joint coordination of priorities within the global team.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Your main tasks as Secondary Air System & Clearance Design Engineer are as follows:

  • Application of In-house and commercial calculation software for:

  • Creation of calculation models to describe the cooling air supply of the hot gas-carrying components in a gas turbine and evaluation of the results.

  • Creation of calculation models to describe the transient heating and expansion of the entire gas turbine and determining the optimum assembly gaps between rotating and stationary components of the gas turbine.

  • Evaluation of model results and deriving the conclusions required for the design

  • Collaboration on the conceptual development of the Secondary Air System of our gas turbines

  • Evaluation of operation and findings from prototypes and the current fleet

What You Bring

  • Holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, with over two years of experience in heat transfer and fluid dynamics; additional experience may lead to higher-level opportunities.

  • Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, with beneficial experience or knowledge in gas turbines and their components, and a proven capability to analyze complex issues.

  • Proficient communication skills and confident use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), alongside knowledge of numerical software (e.g., Ansys, Abaqus, NX, StarCCM+) and programming languages (Visual Basic, C++, C#, Fortran).

  • Familiarity with risk assessment methods such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, and experience in the development, design, and operation of gas turbines are highly valued.

  • Experience working in intercultural and global teams, demonstrating the ability to navigate and contribute to diverse working environments.

  • Applicants must be currently the legal residents of the United States.

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
