We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Technical Writer to join our remote technical writing team in Orlando, Florida. As an integral part of our company, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation that meets our high standards of clarity, accuracy, and reliability. This mid-career position is remote, but may require up to 25% travel to various locations. The role demands a professional who is adept at translating complex technical information into user-friendly content, standardizing documentation, and ensuring consistency across all materials. You will work closely with subject matter experts to gather the necessary information and collaborate with team members to manage documentation projects from inception to completion. Your ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines will be crucial to your success in this role. As a Technical Writer, you will also be expected to stay abreast of industry developments and engage in ongoing professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge. The selected candidate will be a self-starter with a commitment to excellence and a passion for clear and effective communication. Required Experience/Skills:
Minimum of 3 years of professional technical writing experience.
Experience working with desktop publishing software such as FrameMaker, Arbortext, and MadCap Flare. (Arbortext Editor experience a plus).
Experience developing and editing XML content.
Experience working with paper-based and electronic-based technical documentation.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
Writes and updates material for technical manuals concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance.
Excellent grammar and written communication skills.
Ability to track and comply with strict schedules.
Desire and ability to work in a team environment.
Desired Experience/Skills:
Operational and maintenance background in DoD Systems.
Technical Manual and/or training development experience on military systems.
Technical experience in operating and/or maintaining military systems.
Authors technical documentation in XML for IADS integration a plus.
Working knowledge of military documentation development standards [Military Standard (MIL-STD- 40051-1 and MIL-STD- 40051-2, MIL-HDBK-1222, and standard military writing and Quality Assurance practices.
User-level experience with Military Technical Manuals.
Experience with graphic development tools to include photos and line art.
Required Education:
- BA/BS degree allowable substitution 4 years of additional professional technical writing experience.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
