Northrop Grumman Defense Systems has an opening for a Chief Engineer to support our Systems Engineering organization. We are looking for you to join our team as a Staff Chief Engineer based out of Orlando, FL. As a Staff Chief Engineer at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Cross-Domain Handling of Releasable Data (CHORD) portfolio. CHORD is a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) two-domain Cross Domain Solution (CDS). The CHORD portfolio comprises multiple contract awards and with various customers. The successful candidate will be exceptionally meticulous, collaborative, open, transparent, and team-oriented with a focus on team empowerment & personal responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning, and a culture of seeking the best performance from everyone.
The Chief Engineer is the definitive technical authority for all aspects of engineering on all program elements (systems/software/gateware/test) and leads a multi disciplined engineering team managing the technical performance of the program meeting cost and schedule requirements including subcontracted elements.
Roles and Responsibilities:
coordinates requirements development, hardware/software design, verification, and validation activities;
ensures that the program is adhering to sound engineering processes in the development, production, test and sustainment of products for our customers and is compliant with company policies, procedures, and quality standards;
maintains cognizance over technical activities within program sub-teams and ensures horizontal integration of the best engineering practices across the company;
continually coordinates with the systems engineering and program management to ensure the execution of program statement of work and baselines;
and, serves as the technical point of contact with the customer.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field and 12 years of related technical experience; Master’s degree in a STEM field and 10 years of related technical experience, or PHD in a STEM field and 8 years of related technical experience
Active DoD Secret clearance
Experience as SME, Technical lead, Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, Chief Engineer, or other engineering leadership role that demonstrated team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated experience in designing, building, testing and deploying mission critical military systems.
Demonstrated experience is leading Agile development teams and ensuring adherence to Agile principles.
Familiarity with Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) Technology
Knowledge of the systems engineering lifecycle to translate strategic cyber objectives, technology, and environmental conditions into engineering outcomes and solutions, such as Raise the Bar (RTB) initiatives
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in CDS Technology
Demonstrated experience with the Raise-the-Bar (RTB) Standards published by the National Cross Domain Strategy & Management Office (NCDSMO) within the National Security Agency (NSA).
Successful experience with the NCDSMO’s Lab Based Security Assessment process.
Experience managing external suppliers
Experience with Foreign Military Sales
Salary Range: $147,700 - $221,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
