Actalent Senior Embedded Software Engineer in Orlando, Florida
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Software Engineer to join our team in Melbourne, FL, supporting the defense industry. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in embedded systems and a passion for developing innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for defense applications.
Work with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and Linux (Red Hat or FreeRTOS) for embedded system implementations.
Develop and integrate embedded device drivers, including TCP/IP, UART, I2C, PCIe, and USB.
Build device drivers and interface with hardware such as cameras or FPGAs.
Implement multi-threading and multi-processing concepts to optimize system performance.
Participate in technical activities, including designing, developing, analyzing, documenting, and supporting the testing of products, systems, or subsystems.
Utilize computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software as needed.
Work independently and under supervision, providing regular progress and status reports.
Ensure the timely completion of assigned tasks while meeting technical requirements.
Review customer specifications and requirements, and develop designs to best support them, considering cost as a key design variable.
Support program design to cost and design for manufacturing requirements.
Develop prototypes to mitigate key development risks as directed.
Communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally, with other company personnel and customers as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Must-Have Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of professional Embedded Software Engineering experience
Extensive development experience in C or C+
- Proven expertise with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
Strong knowledge of Linux (Red Hat or FreeRTOS) and hands-on experience with bare-metal implementations for embedded systems.
Skilled in developing and integrating embedded device drivers, including TCP/IP, UART, I2C, PCIe and USB.
Experience interfacing with hardware such as cameras or FPGAs
Comprehensive understanding of multi-threading and multi-processing principles and their practical applications.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
