The role you’ll contribute:

The Senior Manager of the Research Portfolio is responsible for the development and management of systems, tools, processes and teams that support the fiscal and administrative operations of the AdventHealth Research Institute (AHRI) throughout the enterprise. In this role, the Senior Manager provides Research Core charge-backs, study-related expenses and annual budgets for research therapeutic areas served by AHRI. The Senior Manager also provides line-of-sight to Executive leadership of financials, including revenue. The Research Portfolio Senior Manager oversees a team of analysts and program managers responsible for collating, reviewing and assuring the quality of financial data sets and key performance indicators. The Senior Manager also oversees the Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS) study build team, responsible for supporting compliant, timely, effective and efficient management of research activities performed under the auspices of AHRI. Responsible for all aspects of Portfolio Management and CTMS integration including daily operations, staffing and training of teams, strategy and readiness for expansion and executive reporting. Works with external partners including the AdventHealth Foundation and internally with Physician Scientists and Institute leaders to identify needs, and source and manage financial support for investigator-initiated research projects within AHRI. Works internally to AHRI with Operational Leadership and Research Services teams to execute strategic plans, playing an integral role in developing the tools and information needed to make strategic decisions. The Senior Manager is responsible for communication and facilitation of the integration of portfolio and performance management functions between Operations, Research Services and Research Finance. Ensures all initiatives are compliant with federal, state, and local regulations and institutional policies and procedures. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility for building and maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Manages and monitors AHRI research study and department financials, including creating tools, systems and processes to collect, review and analyze human and material resource allocation, including staffing and other expenses, research revenue tied to accruals and pass-through invoicing across campuses, divisions and multi-state

  • Develops reports and presentation materials for Executive and Physician Leadership, providing relevant information to drive decision-making in a concise, understandable manner for the evaluation of departmental/regional performance, Physician productivity and programmatic assessments

  • Develops systems and tools to maintain records and data for: quality assurance, analysis of key performance indicators (e.g. Accrual Index reporting), and the proactive analysis of data to provide recommendations on business plans related to study execution

  • Annually leads the development and refinement of fiscal budget documentation for all departments within AHRI across the entire company taking into consideration short-term and long-term objectives of the organization; includes the review of research revenue by project, staffing requirements, minor equipment, supplies and other purchased services

  • Collaborates with Research Finance to develop and present reports and analyses of research financials to AHRI leadership for improved efficiency, financial accountability, and to inform strategic decision making

  • Works with Institute Development, Physician Scientists, Clinical and Institute Leadership and AdventHealth Foundation teams to identify, source, track and report financial support solutions for sponsored studies, and investigator-initiated projects. Supports identifying and securing funding to enable research as a care option and to attract and retain Physician Scientists and develop their programmatic offerings to AHRI and the wider community.

  • Collaborates with Research Services and Research Finance to support the appropriate management and use of federal awards and the completion of departmental post-award responsibilities including timely information and communication, account reconciliation, review of allowability of expenditures, and other reporting requirements. Provides information and assistance required to complete audits, progress reports, and grant closeouts, as needed.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

· Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare, clinical or laboratory science or related field and seven (7) years’ experience in clinical research in a healthcare setting or research site

· Minimum five (5) years’ experience managing teams in clinical research with increasing responsibility

· Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in project management, data analytics, budget development and process improvement

· Experience working effectively with cross-functional groups, influencing without authority and managing conflict
