NBC Universal Manager, Land Use and Development in Orlando, Florida

JOB SUMMARY:
The Manager – Real Estate, Compliance, Land Use, Permitting & Development is responsible for supporting the transactional/ real estate team by managing land use planning, permitting, compliance, development, and other real estate matters.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct preparation (and drafting) of development applications and related materials for land use and real estate development matters, including but not limited to those related to land use and zoning, environmental, utilities and other similar applications. Supports discrete business areas by drafting and reviewing complex agreements and amendments.
Manage external planning and development team members in conducting analysis during the initial phases of site selection/assessment, including review and analysis of external reports, obtaining government approvals, and making executive recommendations.
Research and analyze various land development code and municipal regulations; Advise legal and business teams regarding jurisdictional programs and processes; Lead discussions on code related issues; and Develop strategies for unique site conditions and permitting requirements.
Manage department compliance systems, checklists, tracking and status reports with timelines, due dates, deadlines, milestones, contract and insurance policy termination dates, government filings, approvals, and permits. Ownership and project management in initiating and following up on action items to completion
Conducts legal research and analysis and prepare memos related to same. Prepare materials required to respond to discovery requests and subpoenas.
Occasional attendance at public hearings (including some evenings) and contact with governmental planners and/or staff members in furtherance of land use cases.
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited college or university in Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, Environmental Design, Architecture or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5+ years in corporate legal, law firm, government or developer environment required with experience working with large-scale community, mixed-use, resort and/or entertainment-based projects, with focus in architectural, landscape, urban planning or urban design practice required.
Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
Experience in theme park, hotel and/or entertainment venues preferred; proven experience managing a team of individuals or consultants through the planning, permitting and/or development process required.
Experience with AUTOCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or PowerPoint preferred;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must be able to work in a high-paced environment handling multiple tasks at the same time; and must maintain confidentiality of projects, legal, and business information at all times.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
