NBC Universal Internship – Horticulture, Technical Services (Spring 2025) in Orlando, Florida

    JOB SUMMARY:

Horticulture Interns have the opportunity to work with professionals specializing in a range of Horticulture disciplines including, but not limited to: Arboriculture, Landscape Architecture, Data/Business Systems, and Pest Management. This opportunity provides individuals valuable knowledge, skills, and networking opportunities that are unique to a High-end Theme Park Horticulture environment. During their time in this position, our Intern will learn how we manage a large urban forest, general Horticulture management techniques, and have hands-on experience managing data in a robust asset-management system.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the cataloging, GPS/RFID tagging of, and data recording of our UOR Urban Forest alongside our Arboriculture Data Team.

  • Collaborates with a range of leaders at all levels to ensure information recorded is accurate and up to date.

  • Performs safe utilization of tools and equipment used in a large-scale Horticulture operation, with a focus on those used for Urban Forestry Management (RFID Tags, Trimble GIS Tools/Software, Drills, Sounding Hammers, Etc.)

  • Utilizes software checks and balances to help eliminate human error in data management systems.

  • Perform Data-Entry into robust asset management and business enterprise software.

  • Shadows leaders of different Horticulture disciplines.

  • Meets with senior leaders to gain an understanding of overall vision.

  • Attends in-field learning opportunities.

  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION:

  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Sophomore or above.

  • Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.

  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required.

  • An official transcript may be required upon request.

  • Preferred majors include: Horticulture, Arboriculture, Dendrology, Database Management, Data Management, Asset Management, Urban Forestry.

  • Preferred coursework completed: Urban Forestry/Management, Arboriculture/Dendrology, Landscape Architecture.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Preferable skills for success in role include but not limited to:

  • Basic understanding of database management (preferably MAXIMO) preferred.

  • Must be efficient in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Superior written & verbal communication skills.

  • Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines.

  • Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams.

  • Consistent attendance.

  • This internship will be an in-person experience, based in our Orlando offices.

  • Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than April 2025.
