Your Role in Keeping the Future in Safe Hands…

As the Import/Export Operation Specialist for the Global Solutions division of ASSA ABLOY, you will have the opportunity to become a valuable member of our Operations team, making a genuine, positive impact in the lives of our customers.

Reporting to the Operations Director , you will take the lead in Traka’s communication with internal and external partners/customers on Import and Export Operations .

What you will do…

  • Coordinate with third parties to move the cargo by ocean and air in accordance with customer requirements, with a specific focus on export shipments to Canada and Latin America.

  • Review and work on correcting any of our products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States.

  • Negotiate trucking rates and handle costs with our shipping partners.

  • Communicate with the carriers to get the rate requests, if necessary.

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to various programmatic efforts within Traka Systems.

  • Manage inventory of key and locker cabinet hardware and spare parts.

  • Provide order entry, rate quotes, price inquiries, and general questions/customer service.

  • Process domestic LTL & FTL truck shipments.

  • Administer and manage work orders via web-based ERP & CRM software.

  • Perform documentation & reporting of all quality issues in line with quality assurance processes.

  • Responsible for preparation, configuration & test of electronic key/locker hardware and software systems to meet customer work order specification and quality standards.

  • Uphold Traka USA’s outstanding reputation for delivering superior customer service to retain a market edge over competitor products and services.

  • Subject to other related duties as assigned by management, within your scope of practice

    Principal Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate shipments in alignment with the project management team.

  • Manage and oversee the export of shipments, specifically into Canada and Latin America, ensuring compliance with regional regulations and requirements.

  • Perform weekly count and reconciliation of inventory items, in close alignment with the finance team.

  • Pack and arrange shipping of all key/lock cabinets and spare part work orders.

  • Maintain detailed service and equipment records.

  • Responsible for the preparation, configuration & testing of electronic key/locker system hardware and software systems using hand and electrical tools.

  • Install and configure firmware applications on control system hardware.

  • Install and configure software on test computers and servers.

  • Program key/locker hardware network interface for use on TCP/IP networks.

  • Provide technical support coverage to end users as required.

    What we expect of you…

  • Technical or Manufacturing qualification/certification or equivalent workplace experience is highly desirable.

  • Excellent work ethic, dedication, and ability to work as a team.

  • Excellent knowledge of global harmonized descriptions and codes.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and continuous process improvement skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask.

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems.

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • Knowledge of computer networks is desired.

  • Interest in technology and innovation is desired.

  • Ability to follow operational procedures and work to strict project deadlines.

  • Experience in a technical or manufacturing position is desired.

  • Experience in managing product import processes.

  • Experience in managing product export processes, including familiarity with regional trade agreements and customs procedures.

    Physical Requirements

  • Normal, corrective vision range; ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, bend and reach.

  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.

  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 75lbs regularly.

  • Ability to work on your feet for 8 hours per day.

  • Ability to load and unload trucks as required.

  • Forklift experience is a plus.
