Orlando Utilities Commission Data Analyst Intern (Florida Municipal Power Pool) - Summer 2025 in Orlando, Florida
OUC – The Reliable One , an industry leader and the second-largest municipal utility in Florida, is offering an internship program in the Trans,Substation & Sys Protect division.
We are looking for a Data Analyst Intern (Florida Municipal Power Pool) - Summer 2025 to assist the Florida Municipal Power Pool (“FMPP”) Support Team with research, analysis, development, and presentation of data from a range of operational data sources. During the internship, you will:
Participate in requirements, analysis, design, development, and presentation discussions with the FMPP team
Document findings, decisions, issues, and action items from team discussions
Research, analyze, and document stakeholder and data needs
Participate in solution scope definition, planning and design
Research, analyze, and document data sources and data quality for identified solutions
Assist with the design and implementation of data extraction, transformation and load processes, analytical models, reports, data visualizations, dashboards, etc.
Assist with maintenance and updates to various reports, data visualizations, dashboards, analytical models, etc.
Scrub data and perform quality assurance of both data and data products to ensure high-quality deliverables
Prepare and present data finds, insights, etc.
Internship Eligibility:
Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university in a degree seeking program.Academic status of junior and above
Program of study: Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, Engineering, or Business
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
Authorized to work in the United States
Ability to commit to a full-time schedule between May 19,2025 through August 15, 2025
The Ideal Candidate will have:
Proficiency with MS Office (MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
Working knowledge of MS Excel tools, formulas, and functions
Knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems (“RDBMS”)
Strong quantitative and analytical skills
Knowledge of data storytelling and advance visualization concepts
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, industry professionals, and the general public
Additional “Nice to Haves”:
Working knowledge of electric utilities and power markets
Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL)
Working knowledge of data analysis visualization software (e.g. Power BI, Python, Snowflake, etc.)

Formed by an interlocal agreement in 1988, Florida Municipal Power Pool (FMPP or Pool) commits and dispatches the generating units of its member utilities as a single entity to meet the consolidated load of its members. Current members of FMPP are Orlando Utilities Commission, Lakeland Electric, and Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA). The Pool functions much like a carpool, enabling its member utilities to combine their resources efficiently to meet a shared need. Like sharing a ride to work, the member utilities share their fleet of power plants, power purchase agreements and transmission lines to economically and reliably produce electricity. The Pool has helped consumers in several Florida cities enjoy lower electricity costs and enhanced service reliability for decades.

Compensation : $17.00 - $18.00 per hour, varies depending the education level
Schedule : Full-Time (up to 40 hours per week) – Hybrid
