Actalent Controls Software Engineer in Orlando, Florida

Job Description : We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Controls Engineer to join our team. This role is crucial for our virtual commissioning work, leveraging digital twin technology to simulate and optimize the performance of our attractions. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in both software development and controls engineering, with a particular focus on virtual commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Software Development (50%): Develop and maintain software using C#, Unity, and Python for data transformation.

  • Controls Engineering (50%): Design, implement, and troubleshoot control systems, including reading and interpreting ladder logic.

  • Digital Twin Development: Utilize Unity to build and refine virtual twins of our attractions.

  • Middleware Communication: Ensure seamless communication between virtual twins and PLCs using middleware solutions.

  • Simulation and Testing: Create and manage test benches using Rockwell’s simulated PLC and Siemens Sim Advance.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with vendors and internal teams to model and understand the behavior of complex ride systems.

  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve technical challenges related to virtual commissioning and control systems.

    Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5-10 years in controls engineering and software development, with a strong preference for candidates with a blend of both disciplines.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in C#, Unity, Python, and familiarity with Rockwell and Siemens PLC simulation tools.

  • Education: Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Passion: A genuine interest in virtual commissioning and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
