Position Announcement
Utah Valley University is seeking an Assistant - Aviation Mechanic.
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Assistant Aviation Mechanic assists in preparing aircraft for inspection. Under the direct supervision of a certificated mechanic, they perform some preventative maintenance in accordance with FAA regulations. Assist in keeping the hangars clean and organized. Assist with other duties as assigned.
Summary of Responsibilities
• The Assistant Aviation Mechanic is responsible for preparing aircraft for inspection by opening panels on inspections, cleaning aircraft including interior and exterior, washing aircraft before inspection is started, waxing, vacuuming, conditioning seats, and window washing.
• Performs some preventative maintenance in accordance with FAA regulations including oil changes, changing tires, and brakes.
• These tasks will be done under direct supervision of a certificated aircraft maintenance technician.
• Assists with keeping the hangars clean and organized.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation with a high school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Graduation with high school diploma or GED and one year related experience or any combination of job related experience and education totaling one year.
• May require additional certifications.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
• Knowledge of basic maintenance, hand tool operation and safety awareness.
• Basic skills with hardware, tools, and mechanical dexterity.
• High level of awareness and attention to detail skills.
• Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, as a team, and individually.
• Ability to be self motivated.
