Eaton Corporation Tooling Engineer, Manufacturing Support in Orchard Park, New York

Eaton’s IS AER MSD division is currently seeking a Tooling Engineer, Manufacturing Support.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $65250.0 - $95700.0 a year.

What you’ll do:

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the Tooling Engineer, Manufacturing Support include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Design and develop moderate to complex technical solutions (tooling and fixtures) to be used in the manufacturing and assembly of aerospace products seeking guidance from Sr. team members as required

• Perform Risk assessments on all designs, propose mitigation factors and raise concerns, seeking guidance A/R.

• Independently conduct and document analysis on designed tool and fixture parts and assemblies, IAW company, Industry, and Engineering Standards, to verify that they sufficient in strength and operation to fulfill their intended use and will be safe under all conditions of use seeking guidance from Sr. team members as required

• Produce fully defined technical drawings using company provided computer-aided design/drafting (CAD) software.

• Source Materials, Parts, and Fabrications and Services required to support Tooling production.

• Interface with suppliers of tool and fixture parts to support on time delivery and reasonable cost of sourced components.

• Inspect and verify that received tool and fixture parts meet all requirements of the drawing with respect to dimensions, finishes, and function.

• Complete Assembly, Testing, Validation and Identification, as necessary, of delivered tooling.

• Evaluate/Investigate Existing Tools/Fixtures to create technical dwg packages (where none may exist)

• Proposed upgrade opportunities, and Facilitate Tool Revision / Rework along with while maintaining Configuration Control IAW company standards.

• Interpret and Modify existing technical drawings, to current company standards

• Develop supporting technical documentation such as capability calculations, datasheets and interface control documents.

• Provide accurate status reports to Manufacturing Engineering and others as required.

• Facilitate design/schedule reviews with senior team members and Manufacturing and Design Engineers as necessary.

• Develop process improvement suggestions to facilitate continuous improvement initiatives.

• Support Large Projects as required by site needs

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s in an Engineering Discipline (Mechanical Preferred) -OR- Technical Associate’s Degree in Engineering or CAD and 10 years of relevant industry experience.

  • Advanced Proficiency with Computer Aided Design – CAD (Solid Work preferred)

  • Minimum of 2 years’ of relevant Experience with product design/tool & fixture design/development of new technologies

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. “Green Card Holder”), Political Asylee or Refugee.

  • All candidates must be legally authorized to work without company sponsorship, now and in the future.

  • Relocation is not provided, all candidates must reside within 75 miles of Eaton's Orchard Park, NY facility.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Material Properties, Application of DFMA principals

• Knowledge of complex electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems

• Skills in Designing Tooling and/or Fixturing for hand assembly production environments

• Experience Designing Tooling and/or Fixturing for automated production environments

• Experience assembling and testing complex, precise and/or pressurized mechanical assemblies

• Experience with Communication and Presentation of Engineering Information
