Position: Product Engineer

As a Product Engineer at McGard, you will play a crucial role in the development and launch of our automotive security products. You will lead projects, manage them through the product development process, and collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams to ensure both the successful introduction of new products and the continual improvement of existing ones.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with automotive OE customers to understand their specific product requirements, ensuring their needs are met with innovative and effective solutions.

  • Lead the development and launch of new products, while adhering to the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes.

  • Perform product testing, develop validation plans, and establish quality assurance procedures to ensure products meet customer expectations and industry standards.

  • Create and maintain detailed product specifications, engineering drawings, and documentation.

  • Work with cross-functional teams, including sales, design engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to drive successful product launches and continuous improvement of existing products.

  • Analyze product performance data and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement.

  • Establish and manage project timelines, ensuring on-time product launches.

  • Participate in design reviews and provide valuable input to enhance product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

  • Support relevant product lines through all stages of the product lifecycle, up to obsolescence.

  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge in the market.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME / BSMET) or a related field. GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.

  • Proficiency in CAD software and 2D drawing development. Experience with PTC Creo Parametric and Windchill is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control principles, and material and strength analysis.

  • Design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience.

  • Proven experience in product engineering, preferably in the automotive industry.

  • Familiarity with the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) production part approval process (PPAP).
