Job Description
The essential function of the position within the organization is to supervise repair and maintenance of the City’s water, wastewater, and accompanying apparatuses. This position is responsible for the immediate supervision of personnel, training, maintenance and repair of equipment of responsibility, law and ordinance compliance, ordering parts and equipment, and related paperwork.
Duties and responsibilities

Assign staff, including training, selecting or recommending selection, for each job. Assist Maintenance Manager with delegation of duties, assumes Manager Responsibilities during Manager’s absence.
Perform inspections of water and wastewater equipment periodically to ensure proper functioning and operation
Assist with repairs and preventive maintenance of equipment at all facilities
Order parts and equipment as required.
Perform clerical tasks such as preparing work schedules, conducting research to establish improved departmental functioning, or reviewing completed work orders of personnel of responsibility.
Gather information/data to support periodic and special reports documenting activities for area of responsibility.
Attend or conducts staff meetings
Develop weekly/monthly schedule
Participates in job related training
Attends safety classes, reinforces and complies with company safety policies
Attend safety classes, reinforce and comply with company safety policies
Work harmoniously with ESG employees and the public and comply with ESG policies
Qualifications
Requires seven years of related experience. High School Diploma or GED and the equivalent of one year of college or specialized vocational training in automotive mechanics or a closely related field. Must have a valid state driver’s license and meet minimum driving standards.
Knowledge of:
Achieving minor economies and/or preventing minor losses through the handling of or accounting for materials, supplies, or small amounts of money.
Responsibility for the safety and health of others and/or for occasional enforcement of the standards of public safety or health.
Skill in:
Handling or using machines, tools, equipment or work aids involving moderate latitude for judgment regarding attainment of a standard or in selecting appropriate items such as hand or power tools, bush hog, or tractor.
Performing coordinating work involving guidelines and rules with constant problem solving which requires continuous, close attention for accurate results or frequent exposure to unusual pressure.
Making decisions with minor impact - affecting only those in immediate work area.
Ability to:
Read journals and manuals; compose specialized reports using proper format and grammar; speak to groups of coworkers and people outside the organization.
Take responsibility for the actions of others, requiring development of procedures and constant decisions affecting subordinate workers, City customers, or others in the general public; works in a very fluid environment with guidelines but significant variations.
Working conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, bright and/or dim light, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors. All required safety standards shall be adhered to in order to mitigate risk from moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, heights, blood-borne pathogens, traffic, animals and wildlife, toxic or caustic chemicals, and other identified hazards.
Physical requirements
This position requires frequent standing, kneeling, bending and climbing. The employee must be able to use hands to operate and manipulate tools and equipment. This position requires very heavy physical exertion including the ability to lift over 50 pounds and exert over 100 pounds of force on a regular basis.
The employee must be willing to work non-standard and overtime hours as required.
The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and depth perception.
