Boys Town Research Vehicle Driver in Omaha, Nebraska
Works with Research to drive operate a mobile research unit.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:Drives a BTNRH vehicle towing a 30-foot gooseneck trailer carrying research equipment to and from designated locations.
Completes pre-and post-trip vehicle and trailer inspections, conducts inventory checks before removing the truck and trailer from the given site, and maintains an accurate driving log.
Communicates with Research to coordinate trailer delivery and setup. Delivers and sets up the trailer promptly, avoiding delays. Secures trailer for use, including leveling the trailer and ensuring generator function.
Coordinates with Research and/or Facilities to schedule and adhere to maintenance requirements for the truck and trailer and addresses any technical or mechanical issues for the truck and trailer in a timely manner considering the severity of the issue.
Builds relationships with researchers and community partners to promote a welcoming and safe environment for all, including BTNRH staff, community partners, and community members at large.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to drive, park, and maneuver trailers at least 30 feet long.
Ability to drive BTNRH vehicles in a safe manner and for long periods.
Strong communication skills, including written and verbal.
Ability to detect, respond, and report all unsafe conditions accordingly, as needed.
Ability to promote and maintain excellent public relations with patients, visitors, and all employees and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work with diverse groups and demonstrate cultural humility, kindness, and respect for all people.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Favorable driving record required.
Travel locally (within 50 miles of Omaha area) and greater distances, including out of state required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) preferred.
Available to work weekends and travel up to 2-3 weeks at a time.
Minimum 2 years of experience with long-distance driving preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience driving vehicles requiring CDL-A preferred.
Experience with hauling, parking, and maneuvering trailers at least 30-feet in length preferred.
Flexible schedule preferred, including weekends and travel up to 3 weeks at a time.
