Actalent Project Manager/estimator in Omaha, Nebraska

Job Title: Project Manager/EstimatorJob Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager/Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, estimating, and overseeing mechanical/HVACR projects from start to finish. This role requires excellent organizational skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and coworkers.

Responsibilities

  • Make plans using detailed drawings

  • Prepare estimates and budgets

  • Create accurate project specifications

  • Design engineered solutions for mechanical/HVACR clients

  • Create technical reports for customers

  • Complete regulatory documents concerning safety issues

  • Communicate with clients to determine needs and explain complex issues

  • Manage field activities and implement engineering designs

  • Diagnose construction or maintenance problems specifically as they concern HVACR

  • Oversee repairs and technical improvements

  • Install new systems and technology

  • Supervise and direct onsite crew (e.g., technicians)

  • Research and inquire about prospective project opportunities with clients, owners, architects, engineers, and other industry resources

  • Review and incorporate historical data from industry information, previous jobs, and productivity reports

  • Estimate projects for bid submittal by reviewing plans and specifications, calculating quantities, gathering quotes and submittals, constructing the bid, and creating the bid submittal

  • Sketch preliminary drawings for permits, bid purposes, and to begin construction

  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, and evaluate site conditions to determine scope of work

  • Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to the project including all divisions, labor, subcontractors, material and equipment pricing, and related items

  • Prepare quantity takeoff and estimates

  • Establish good business relationships with the architect, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders

  • Confer with project staff to outline work plan and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority

  • Provide technical advice and help resolve problems

  • Follow up on estimated jobs to determine award status in a timely fashion

  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by management

  • Review contract, scope of work, and scheduling of projects assigned

  • Attend pre-construction meetings for projects awarded to ensure communication and coordination between project managers, field operations, and office staff

  • Obtain necessary permits and licenses

  • Manage costs by monitoring labor, equipment, and ordering job materials

  • Negotiate and prepare change orders and additional work as required

  • Manage financial aspects of contracts including billing, invoices, rental equipment, labor, and job cost, change orders, and related items

  • Coordinate communication with project owner, engineer(s), and internal management team

Essential Skills

  • Five years of increasingly responsible construction and management experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Industrial or Architectural Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Proficient with MS Excel

  • Knowledge and operational understanding of OSHA, building codes, and state, local, and federal regulations related to the construction industry

  • Ability to run jobs varying in size and scope

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficient with Bluebeam and construction software applications

  • Excellent organization and project coordination skills required to handle multiple and simultaneous projects

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Ability to effectively present and communicate information to clients, vendors, or employees

  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints

  • Positive and professional communication skills are critical in person and via presentations, phone, email, fax, or other electronic communication device

Work Environment

Brand new building with ample natural light, large personal offices, break rooms on every floor, and a balcony and patio under construction for BBQ area for staff. Standard 8-hour shifts with a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58000.00 - $102000.00/hr.
