Omaha Children's Hospital Mental Health Practitioner - Eating Disorders in Omaha, Nebraska

$10,000 hiring bonus and relocation to those who qualify!

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8a-5p

Children’s Nebraska i s seeking adolescent or pediatric Mental Health Practitioners (LIMHP) to expand a well-developed department of Behavioral Health. Our team consists of 5 board certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, 4 APRNS, 15 Clinical Psychologists, a Neuropsychologist, 6 Licensed Mental Health Providers, and 4 Clinic RNs. The Mental Health Practitioner will deliver care through face to face and telehealth methods. We complete 2,500 patient visits per month across traditional outpatient clinics, which include multidisciplinary clinic teams, school-based services, integrated primary care, and medical hospital consultations.

Children’s Nebraska is the only full-service, pediatric health care center in Nebraska, providing expertise in more than 50 pediatric specialty services to children across a five-state region and beyond. Children’s is home to Nebraska’s only Level IV regional NICU and the state’s only Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.

Children’s is focused on extraordinary clinical care, education, basic science and translational research and advocacy and is embarking on transformational programmatic and physical growth. Our Behavioral Health team members are involved in about a dozen multidisciplinary care clinics and provide medical home-centered care in 10 primary care pediatric offices.

Education Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, or related field Required

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience as a licensed mental health practitioner in a child or adolescent environment Required and

  • Experience in outpatient mental health setting Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of psychological principles, child and adolescent development, inter-relational dynamics, individual and group behavior, and behavior modification techniques.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients and families, physicians, and other clinical professionals to gather and exchange patient information.

  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail of work time when providing therapy, observing patient response, scoring tests, and documenting patient progress.

  • Readiness to go to the hospital at odd hours when providing on-call services in rotation with mental health staff.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in providing age-appropriate care to children, adolescents, adults and families.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current and valid Independent Mental Health Practitioner Nebraska license or state of Nebraska eligible Required

  • Non-Violent Intervention training Preferred
