Lead Security Operations Analyst

The Lead Security Operations Analyst provides technical analysis of threats, provides escalation capabilities, coordinates with other departments, and mentors other information security analysts on the team. The Lead Analyst provides experienced and critical security operations measures that ensure the integrity, continuity and confidentiality of information resources across the OPPD enterprise. The scope of functions include: security tool function and administration, security project implementation and modification, standards and procedure development, coordination with MSSP and third parties, malware protection, configuration management, advanced log analysis, threat intelligences, and advanced monitoring capabilities. Accountable to lead, develop, administer and control security operations functions including access levels, protection measures, and provide input to the development of overarching security to OPPD. The incumbent is responsible to monitor and respond to security and enterprise monitoring tools and design automated alerting and support incident escalation. The incumbent monitors and acts on security operations fulfillment/response requests and recommends proper methods and processes to the business to address threats. The position provides day-to-day functions in security operations as well as the required compliance vulnerability and monitoring activities.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Information Security Threats: Lead, design and implement improvements in Security Operations threat monitoring, attack response methods, and incident response plans.

  • Partner with GRC, infrastructure and engineering teams to investigate security events.

  • Review current security capabilities and continually evaluate existing threats, security risk and impact, and analyze possible solutions to mitigate risks.

  • Drive OPPD¿s Security Operations situation awareness and information sharing processes.

  • Coordinate with third parties and Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) on alerts, threat intelligence, service level agreements.

  • Conduct and enhance real-time or near real-time analysis of SIEM, Endpoint protection, CASB, Data Management or other tools.

  • Assess information security risks, vulnerabilities or threats to OPPD.

  • Perform vulnerability assessments and scans and analyze for risk profile.

  • Identify opportunities to secure or reduce security risk to OPPD.

Information Security Project Management: Analyze and implement new and existing projects and technologies based on the OPPD security engineering and operations roadmap.

Information Security Solutions: Define, evaluate, and implement Security Operations solutions and security tools to meet the needs of OPPD.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Four (4) years, experience in a Senior Security Operations analyst or equivalent role position.

  • Must have, or obtain, security clearance qualification for NERC, NRC, FCS Critical Group, and SGI.

  • The skills to plan, schedule and organize work and lead project/project team effectively.

  • Able to communicate needs and schedules to OPPD and clients, as well as ensure that plans are in place and standards are adhered to

  • Capability to perform under stressful situations and the ability to handle multiple complex conflicting priorities.

  • Ability to be on-call as required or scheduled.

Desired:

  • Certifications for relevant software programs in technical domain (e.g. CISSP, GSEC, CySA+, etc.)

  • Additional experience or education or certification in service management (ITSM and ITIL)

  • Ability to influence without authority
