The Role
The Lead Engineer is a highly skilled Network and Security Engineer within Lumen’s Enterprise Operations, Managed Services team. The role is focused on technical leadership and engineering tasks within network and security operations, as well as consulting on architectural planning and design.
The ideal candidate is a mature technologist with a deep understanding of network and security infrastructure, protocols and appliances. This is a work from home position within the US.
The Main Responsibilities
Technical leadership throughout network and security operations engineering, in an ITIL framework (Incident, Request, Change and Problem management)
Daily review and action of Incident, Request and Change backlog
Collaborate on Reason for Outage reports (documents containing detailed feedback on priority incident resolutions, ensuring resolutions are properly documented and learned from)
Configuration and optimization of performance and availability monitoring tools
Create and maintain documentation which helps facilitate deep and broad understanding of the supported environment (Visios, KB articles, Change Management Templates, Configuration Templates, Alert Instructions, etc.)
Configure and manage Cisco switching and routing solutions, including Wireless LAN Controllers and Access Points
Configure and manage Fortinet switching and routing solutions
Configure and manage F5 load balancer LTM and GTM solutions.
Deploy and maintain Firewalls, including Palo Alto, ASA, FTD and FortiGate firewalls. Security policy as well as intrusion detection and prevention systems.
SD-WAN Skills (Multi-vendor knowledge – Primary: Palo Alto, Secondary: Fortinet, Tertiary: Versa, Viptela etc.)
Assist in network architecture and planning tasks
Release management (code upgrades)
Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions.
Conduct regular vulnerability scans and penetration tests to identify and mitigate security risks.
Respond to security incidents and breaches, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
What We Look For in a Candidate
Multi-vendor expertise within switching and routing domain (Cisco, Fortinet)
Proficiency in configuring and managing firewalls, including Cisco ASA, Cisco FTD, Palo Alto and FortiGate
Strong knowledge of Intrusion Detection and Prevention systems
Experience with Cisco Wireless Access Points and Controllers
Experience with F5 load balancing
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, NSE) are a plus
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$103,711 - $138,281 in these states: AL AR AZ FL GA IA ID IN KS KY LA ME MO MS MT ND NE NM OH OK PA SC SD TN UT VT WI WV WY
$108,896 - $145,195 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI
$114,082 - $152,109 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
