Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores Staff Accountant in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

BASIC PURPOSE: The primary purpose of the Staff Accountant position is to be a key contributor in creating and maintaining accurate accounting records.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Make independent decisions and recommendations regarding journal entries, reconciliations and work paper analysis.

  • Use discretion and independent judgment in developing enhancements to the efficiency and effectiveness of department processes and procedures.

  • Prepare deliverables for outside tax or audit requirements.

  • Identify and assess potential opportunities for improvement in all areas of accounting.

  • Interact with other departments and operations.

  • Prepare monthly reporting.

  • Other duties assigned as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

Experience:

  • 1-2 years relevant work experience

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Skills:

  • Hard Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office with strong emphasis on Excel

  • Soft Skills: Strong oral and verbal communication skills; ability to perform and make decisions under pressure and strict deadlines; excellent time management skills; detail oriented; ability to multitask and be a team player

  • Experience with SAP is a plus

  • Typical Physical Demands:

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.

  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
