Job Summary:

Responsible and accountable for planning, developing, implementing and managing processes, which support regional health ministries in deploying the SSM Health operating model and achieving their operating plan objectives. Helps implement a system-wide approach to Continuous Improvement, including creating standardized philosophy, models, systems, training, guidance, tools and techniques in their respective region. Works collaboratively with the regional leadership teams, user groups and a wide variety of internal and external constituencies to drive improvement across the region.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports SSM Health ministry markets/lines of business in achieving strategic goals by leading cross-functional teams through operational improvement initiatives resulting in improved efficiencies, advancing operational standardization and achievement of growth plans and strategies.

  • Responsible for implementing transformational strategies to respond to internal and external drivers, as well as challenging existing practices, and partnering with stakeholders to identify innovative ways of achieving strategic KPI’s and goals.

  • Develops systems and executes strategies to implement a continuous improvement program and culture that delivers substantive productivity and/or profitability gains year over year.

  • Acts as a senior advisor to provide value-added collaboration with the operational and clinical executive leaders to ensure prioritization of initiatives and identified solutions are in alignment with the overall objective and strategy of the organization.

  • Oversees members of the continuous improvement team within the region to provide operational guidance, resourcing, and program/project management expertise to support consulting engagements, operational improvements, and processes identified as strategic priorities of the organization.

  • Leads advanced process improvement activities through engagement of teams, subject matter experts, stakeholders and benchmarking.

  • Utilizes lean principles and systems thinking to identify complex interrelated processes that contribute to the success and failures of an organization.

  • Facilitates complex accelerated improvement workshops for value stream analysis, standard work, improved throughput, quality improvement, cost reduction, workplace organization and other objectives.

  • Partners with local leadership team to identify best countermeasures and combined solutions to address root causes.

  • Provides expert advice and leadership in implementing action plans and development of sustainment/control plans for solutions.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

EXPERIENCE

  • Three years' operational experience as a healthcare executive within complex regional or national health systems

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Rare climbing.
