Are you ready to put your experience to work at Northrop Grumman? If so, we want you to join our team as a Principal Technical Editor and Writer located in Oklahoma City, OK.
As a Technical Editor and Writer, you will write, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. You will also acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. You will negotiate and integrate different viewpoints, relay, and receive information and collaborate in a team environment as well as conduct quality reviews of written content.
This position will be on-site full time in Oklahoma City, working a standard 9/80 or 4/10 schedule.
Basic Qualifications:
9 years' experience with a high school diploma or equivalent; or 5 years' experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years with a Master's degree.
Experience in technical editing and writing and have strong writing and editing skills, including ability to manipulate usage and grammar.
Ability to research engineering data, technical manuals, and utilize subject matter experts, team members, and established processes to complete technical authoring under very general supervision
Experience in proofing/editing, interpreting engineering documentation to include wiring diagrams and schematics.
Experienced in querying authors for clarity and compliance purposes and must be skilled in Microsoft Word, MS excel, and PowerPoint.
Possess an active DoD Secret security clearance and be able to maintain that clearance.
Ability to obtain and retain Special Program access clearance within 365 days from submission.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active DoD Top Secret security clearance.
Proficient in the interpretation of engineering data such as parts list, application list, notes list schematics and blueprint reading.
Experienced in creating multi-configuration, multi-effectivity indentured parts lists from engineering data.
Experience as a qualified mechanic, technician, or operator in a technical field such as aircraft, ship, missile, or space systems highly desired.
Ability to identify and possibly work around limited engineering data.
Salary Range: $65,900 - $98,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
