Help Desk Support Level 1

Job Summary:

The Help Desk Support Level 1 is responsible for providing first-line technical support to end-users by diagnosing and resolving basic IT issues. This role involves troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related problems, as well as escalating more complex issues to higher-level support teams when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for IT support via phone, email, or ticketing system.

  • Diagnose and resolve basic technical issues related to software, hardware, and network connectivity.

  • Assist users with password resets, software installations, and system access issues.

  • Document and track issues, resolutions, and user interactions in the ticketing system.

  • Escalate complex technical problems to Level 2 or Level 3 support as needed.

  • Provide guidance to users on IT policies, security best practices, and software usage.

  • Set up and configure workstations, peripherals, and basic network connections.

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base of common technical issues and solutions.

  • Ensure timely follow-ups and resolution of support tickets.

    Requirements

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (preferred)

  • 0-2 years of experience in an IT support or help desk role

  • Basic knowledge of Windows/Mac operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addresses, DNS, VPN, etc.)

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

  • Customer-service-oriented mindset with the ability to work under pressure

  • Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Zendesk) is a plus

  • IT certifications (CompTIA A+, ITIL, or Microsoft 365 Fundamentals) are a plus

Work Environment:

  • Office-based or remote, depending on company policy

  • May require occasional after-hours support or on-call availability
