The role you’ll contribute:
The Physician Assistant (PA) will have prescriptive authority in the State of Florida under a practice agreement with a supervising physician as defined by Florida Statute 59R-30.001. The PA supports the clinical operation with primary focus on clinical services in the inpatient and outpatient setting within their scope of practice as regulated by Florida Statute 458 and 459. The PA may provide first or second assistant functions during surgery, round with surgeons and other clinical staff, and see patients in the outpatient setting. Delivery of patient care will be conducted in collaboration with faculty surgeons, residents and physicians including, but not limited to, physical exams, diagnosis and treatment, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventative health, write prescriptions, and assist in surgery.
Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Under administrative guidance and physician supervision, will provide comprehensive primary care services, acute care services, and extended care services in the area of nursing and or medicine for individuals and their families.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
· Patient evaluation and assessment focused on high quality outcomes and evidence-based care
· Assesses patient health status through physical exam, reviews patient history, diagnostic tests and procedures, and reviews labs and other critical data.
· Diagnoses acute and chronic conditions affecting all organ systems.
· Initiates orders for medications, laboratory, and other diagnostic testing and medical treatments on appropriate forms
· Writes and/or dictates progress notes, procedure notes, history, and physical examination, transfers/discharge summaries in accordance with medical policies. Document, code, and complete diagnosis of patient’s condition to facilitate appropriate insurance reimbursement
· Prescribes interventions and performs therapeutic measures to ensure the appropriate individualized plan of care is implemented.
· Provides first or second assistant functions during surgeries; assist in broad aspects of cardiac
surgery
· Attends medical rounds with surgeons and other staff; coordinates treatment plan as part of multidisciplinary team
· Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with all members of multidisciplinary team
· Functions independently to assess and treat patients in the outpatient clinic setting.
· Call responsibilities
· Maintains working knowledge of JC/CMS/AHCA and Core Measures.
· Consistently complies with documentation standards and core measure requirements.
· Participates in STS data collection and long term surgical outcome data interpretation and implementation to improve metrics.
· Works in the OR as a first assist as needed and participates in call rotation.
· Abides by medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, and hospital policies.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Graduate of a physician assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), the successor program to CAAHEP
· Minimum of two years’ post-graduation clinical experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
· Current, valid State of Florida physician’s assistance license
· Current certification through the National Commission Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA) OR
· Temporary state license issued to graduating Physician Assistant considered as valid and current license until such time as the PA is certified by the NCCPA. New graduates have one year from completion of training to become NCCPA certified
· BLS
· ACLS
