Veterinary Assistant

Department: Pharmacy

Location: Oakville, ON

Mississauga-Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital is welcoming a full-time Veterinary Assistant, Pharmacy to join our team of skilled veterinary professionals. While our network is large, we still offer that local community feeling, mentorship, and additional training!

Responsibilities:

• Timely and accurate dispensing of prescriptions;

• Source medications and supplies to maintain diverse stock for a busy, multi-departmental hospital;

• Ensure timely equipment maintenance and quality control. Facilitate repairs as needed;

• Maintain meticulous record keeping for all aspects of the role, while providing clear and timely communication to appropriate parties;

• Ensure the cleanliness and organization of various work areas;

• Participate in hospital projects, committees and other tasks as required.

Experience or attributes needed to be successful in this role:

• Previous Veterinary Hospital experience (including knowledge of medications and medical equipment) is considered an asset;

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational and problem-solving skills are a must;

• Excellent time management and the ability to handle multiple tasks/projects;

• Proven ability to take initiative, and work independently as well as in a team;

• Computer literacy and the ability to lift 40 pounds;

• Flexibility to adjust to a changing environment.

• Ability to work 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday, with flexibility based on hospital needs. (Rare weekend shifts possible).
