Accounting Manager, Canada Technical Services

Spark Power, a trusted partner in energy in North America, is looking for an Accounting Manager, Canada Technical Services reporting to the Senior Director of Finance Canada. The Accounting Manager role is responsible for completing and overseeing full cycle accounting and reporting duties including month-end/year-end close, reviewing and processing journal entries and account reconciliations along with business partnering with operations to report and monitor performance of the Canada Technical Services line of business.

What will you do you as the Accounting Manager, Canada Technical Services

  • Responsible for the month-end/year-end close processes, account balances in general ledger and financial reporting processes ensuring accuracy of financial reporting. Completeness, accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting is paramount.

  • Lead team prepare and present the monthly financial packages for 22 branches and assist preparing financial results summary for senior management

  • Responsible to supervise and continuously provide coaching and training to 4 direct reports; review individual staff performance, identify training needs and deliver required training for staff development

  • Develop procedures to streamline processes and improve efficiencies

  • Participate in the planning and forecasting for Canada Technical Services line of business, including develop and maintain a robust rolling forecast, owning any inputs from the operational level

  • Assist with audits and taxes (as needed)

  • Support the Director of Finance with any other applicable requirements and/or ad hoc projects

Do you have the Spark? Here's what we're looking for:

  • Detail-oriented and organized

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong attention to detail and proficient in MS Suite

  • Proficiency with accounting software, including Oracle NetSuite & Adaptive (experience working with NetSuite & Adaptive considered an asset, not required)

  • Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws and regulations

  • Ability to execute and deliver results within tight timelines

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with expected growth

  • Experience – 5-7 years of general accounting experience

  • Education - Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting and Professional accounting designation
