\$20.09-\$25.00 per Hour. Temporary and Full-time, seasonal Hand Packers and Packagers/Operators needed at Northern Stone Supplys Rocky Mountain Quartzite Quarry twelve miles South of Oakley Idaho. Eight openings from March 15th to October 5th 2025. This Job is Full-time and Temporary.
Applicant must be of strong physical character, able to display strength and dexterity in both arms and hands, exhibit trunk strength using abdominal and lower back muscles continually over time, as well as able to spend the majority of the workday standing without giving out. Repeated heavy lifting is required. All work is done outside in varying mountainous weather conditions at an elevation above 7,000 Ft.Position requires the ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions with exactness and integrity. No experience or prior training/education required. Successful applicants will become proficient at sorting, sizing, and stacking of natural dimensional stone products to create a sturdy, shippable, and marketable package. Stones must be sorted by size and color to fit into product grading specifications. Some stones will need trimmed, shaped or have natural seams separated using small hammers, chisels, and bars. Applicants will use forklifts to move completed packages to staging areas as well as to help stack larger stones. Employees will be trained in proper wearing and use of safety guidelines, tools, and equipment including handheld hammers, chisels, bars, Strapping tensioners and strapping sealers, forklifts, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toed boots and gloves, and will be required to comply with exactness. Employer will provide steel toed boots, gloves, hearing protection, and any other personal safety items required by regulations.
Minimum hourly wage of \$20.09-\$25.00, normal working hours are Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm. 40 hours per week, overtime may be offered, at the rate of \$30.14-\$37.50 per hour, but not required. Hours and production are tracked weekly and wages are computed using a single workweek as the standard. Workers are paid based on production with minimum straight time rate of \$20.09, and minimum overtime rate of \$30.14. When the value of a workers production exceeds the minimum hourly rates, the hourly rates are increased for that week to compensate for the additional production value. Workers will be paid every two weeks. All deductions from the workers paycheck required by law will be made. On Site housing including all utilities for employees only is available at a cost of \$50.00/week and will be deducted from the employees paycheck if they choose to live in provided housing. Employees who do not choose to live on site will be responsible to secure their own housing and provide their own transportation to and from the carpool area. The employer will provide transportation from the carpool area to the work site and back. The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.
Job duration is anticipated to be March 15th-October 5th, weather permitting. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each twelve-week period of the total employment period.
H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees not paid directly by the employer including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees).
Transportation (including meals and to the extent necessary, lodging) to the place of employment will be provided, or it cost to workers reimbursed at a rate of \$15.88 per day during travel to a maximum of \$59.00 per day with receipts, if the worker completes half the employment period. Return transportation will be provided if the worker completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer.
