Description

We are in search of a Systems Administrator to join our team in the non-profit sector with 5 - 8 years of experience. This role offers a short-term contract employment opportunity. The successful candidate will bring skills in FreeBSD, Puppet Migration knowledge and experience in Puppet or another infrastructure-as-code technology, and VMware, and will be responsible for a range of duties related to system administration.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain system servers, ensuring optimal performance and security.

• Utilize Puppet for configuration management to streamline and automate repetitive tasks, enhance speed and productivity, and manage server configurations.

• Use VMware for virtualization, managing our virtual environment, and ensuring the effective operation of virtual machines.

• Employ FreeBSD as the operating system for our servers, ensuring stability and reliability.

• Troubleshoot and resolve any system issues, working closely with the IT team and other departments.

• Regularly update systems as needed and manage system backups and recovery.

• Implement and manage user access controls and permissions to ensure system security.

• Regularly monitor system performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal speed and efficiency.

• Document all processes and actions taken to resolve system issues for future reference.

• Collaborate with the IT team to plan, develop, and implement new systems or upgrades.

Requirements

Operating System – Puppet, infrastructure-as-code technology, Management system, VM Server, AWS – EC2, general system Admin.

Must possess a bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Proven experience as a Systems Administrator in a non-profit organization is preferred.

• Advanced knowledge of system administration for FreeBSD.

• Demonstrable skills with Puppet for configuration management.

• Proficiency in using VMware for virtualization.

• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Familiarity with the non-profit sector and its unique IT requirements will be advantageous.

• Must have a strong commitment to following ethical IT practices.

• Ability to provide technical support and training to non-technical staff members.

• Capable of managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

• Willingness to stay updated with the latest technological developments applicable to the non-profit sector.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
