We are seeking a Product Engineer responsible for the technical support of HIP-consolidated powder metal parts. The Product Engineer will act as the technical expert that transforms customer inquiries into orders and orders into profitable business. Product Engineers are expected to become experts in interpreting customer requirements, designing manufacturing processes, and supporting operations. Successful Product Engineers will evaluate data, analyze trends, and perform failure investigations. They will also make recommendations for improving yields, reducing costs, and reducing cycle time.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned)

  • Review customer specifications and requirements and support sales teams by approving customer quotes.

  • Create and implement items, recipes, mill instructions and other quality system documents for as-HIP’d near-net shape parts.

  • Support certifications and testing of orders and shipments.

  • Utilize Continuous Improvement tools throughout the manufacturing process, leading to increased yield, improved quality, and reduced costs.

  • Provide technical support to commercial teams during customer engagement

  • Communicate results to management, colleagues, and customers in the form of written reports and oral presentations.

Desired Skills and Job Related Requirements:

  • Minimum B.S. in Material Science Engineering or related discipline.

  • CAD experience is a plus.

  • Technical background in metal or metallic powder processing is preferred.

  • Statistical data analysis experience using JMP, Mini-Tab, or related software is preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).

  • Technical writing/oral presentation skills.

  • Good interpersonal communication skills at all levels.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers.

  • Comfortable presenting at technical meetings.

  • Comfortable being on the shop floor observing processes, providing guidance and interfacing with operators.

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and requirements to shop floor personnel in a clear, concise manner.

  • Must be enthusiastic about tackling challenges and comfortable with working in a continuous improvement environment.

  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently as well as on a team.

  • Eager to become a technical expert and primary point of contact in area of responsibility.

  • Use scientifically rigorous, data driven approach to problem solving.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining composure and meeting established deadlines.

  • Must be willing to travel.
