What’s the role?

Reporting to the Head of Vision at the country’s most prestigious masthead, The Australian, the junior video producer/liaison will be responsible for cutting compelling video content and liaising between two newsrooms. This role offers the chance to create content for both on- and off-platform, and to work as a liaison between the Sky News Australia newsroom and The Australian. It’s an opportunity to work on breaking and agenda-setting storytelling, offering the producer experience for real growth in a media environment.

As part of the role you will be based in the Sky Newsroom, reporting on the latest happenings in domestic and world news. You'll liaise with Sky representatives on what vision and talent is available to your team back at The Australian. In addition you will also be cutting together video packages of key moments for stories that run on The Australian. This includes scripting, and editing, with plenty of room for professional growth.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • In-office 5 days a week out of Macquarie Park and Surry Hills, Sydney. ​

  • Creation and delivery of audience focused video content.

  • Develop content ideas, research, scripting and editing.

  • Contribute to increased audience growth, measured in total views and engagement time.

  • An understanding of social media trends, particularly around key news events.

  • Willingness to stand out in a newsroom.

Who are you?

  • Understanding of news and political landscape in Australia and abroad.

  • 1 + years experience in using Premiere Pro or similar non-linear editing software.

  • Experienced in shooting video using mirrorless/video cameras.

  • Proficient in key Adobe programs such as Photoshop.

  • Proficient in cloud based editing tools such as canva.
