What’s the role?
Bolster your PR expertise as an “ insider” in the engine room of Australia’s biggest media company over a 9-month parental leave period. Ideally a Jan/Feb 2025 start.
Hands-on leadership role, with mentoring opportunities
Fast-paced, autonomous work environment helping manage a small team and PR Agency partner
Steer campaign management, product launches and media events, and implement all major publicity initiatives with a national focus promoting News Corp content, talent and campaigns to national and local media outlets across TV, radio, print, digital and social
Core responsibilities
Plan and execute PR campaigns by researching, brainstorming, and developing PR concepts and strategies to help promote News Corp Australia’s journalists and journalism across a range of news brands
Manage junior team members to monitor, track, and report on key coverage in partnership with Meltwater to measure the effectiveness of PR campaigns
Manage agency partners associated with specific campaign deliverables
Collaborate with senior editorial and marketing leaders and teams to assist in developing compelling PR campaigns
Foster strong relationships with stakeholders including editors, journalists, producers, content creators and influencers
Oversee media attendance and logistics at events managed by News Corp Australia’s events team
Draft relevant media materials for approval, and distribute as required
Proactively reach out to media outlets, influencers, talent managers and journalists to secure coverage by pitching compelling story angles, press releases, and campaign launches to generate buzz and audience engagement to drive business growth

You will be willing to work flexibly – at times accommodating early morning starts, late finishes or occasional weekends. Flexibility for interstate travel on occasion will also be required.
We're seeking a candidate who is deeply passionate about storytelling and capable of crafting imaginative and compelling PR concepts, with a keen eye for how to use social channels and broadcast media for organic content and campaign amplification. The ideal candidate keeps a finger on the pulse of content trends, possesses strong written communications skills, is a confident conversationalist, is highly organised, and has a proven track record of managing multiple campaigns and stakeholders simultaneously.
You are self-assured and a self-starter, capable of leading people. Your highly tuned organizational abilities and knack for juggling tasks underscore your robust work ethic.
While you excel in small team dynamics, you are excited by the prospect of working for multiple market-leading brands and liaising with multiple - at times competing stakeholders. An understanding of - and drive to stay updated on - the ever-evolving local and national media landscape is a must.
This role is challenging and rewarding in equal measure, offering visibility to all levels of News Corp. You will arrive armed with, and maintain, strong relationships with television program producers, TV news chiefs of staff, radio producers and social media editors and possess the ability to craft angles and pitches for segments, interviews and packages on state-based and national programs.
