News Corp Australia Head of Digital and Audience Sport in NSW, Australia

What’s the role?

As our Head of Digital and Audience you will lead a team of experts focussed on growing audience and engagement in sport. You will drive the production, optimisation and discoverability of high-value sport content across our publications. You will play a crucial role in sharpening our digital performance to produce the best possible reader experience.

As a member of the Sport leadership team you will steer our sport digital and audience strategy from concept to execution. A digital native, you will collaborate across the organisation to deliver the best UX in the market for our sports readers to consume our unrivalled content.

In an ever evolving and fiercely competitive market you will lead experimentation and intelligently use data to inform sport journalists and content teams. You will identify ways to reach new audiences and engage existing audiences; and lead and set new digital storytelling benchmarks.

  • Lead and execute the use of data to make smart content decisions.

  • Identify and prosecute the latest digital trends in storytelling and platforms.

  • Lead and execute the SEO, newsletter and social strategy for sport.

  • Lead the test, learn and application for AI in sport.

  • Collaborate on the delivery of actionable insights, priorities and recommendations derived from analysis of audience and storytelling metrics.

  • Based on insights and data, identify new opportunities for premium sports journalism.

  • Work with technology teams to ensure constant iterative improvements to our Digital Products, moving us to exceptional UX.

Who are you?

  • Proven experience in an Editorial role or digital audience growth role, preferably within the media industry

  • Deep understanding of and passion for journalism and digital storytelling

  • Strong industry knowledge and awareness in channels and formats

  • Excellent stakeholder-management skills and comfortable communicating and presenting

  • Experience in delivery of specific organic and paid growth strategies

  • A demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
